At Boston Consulting Group in Prague I worked as a Visiting Associate on a strategy engagement for the launch of a new mobile-network operator. My work focused on quantitative analysis of the competitive market environment, market structure, pricing levels and development of the prospective operator's pricing strategy. In addition to analytical work, I had responsibilities directly within the client team, combining desk research and data analysis with translation of the findings into concrete strategic decisions. The role was short but important as early intensive experience in commercial strategy before my subsequent focus on European economic institutions. The engagement was confidential, so I do not publicly identify the client.
Project
The engagement concerned strategy for the launch of a new mobile-network operator. The work required combining the economics of the telecommunications market with practical product, positioning and pricing decisions.
Analytical work
I prepared quantitative and market analysis of the competitive environment and contributed to pricing strategy. The objective was to understand incumbent behaviour, the structure of existing offers and the potential room for differentiation by a new entrant.
Client team
I worked directly within the client team with analytical and project responsibilities.
